Description
"The Kazusa Province Seaway" by Katsushika Hokusai.
This reproduction of a Japanese print depicting a sailing boat is actually one of the paintings made by the legendary Japanese painter Katsushika Hokusai. It is called "The Sea Route of Kazusa Province" and is part of the series of "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" that Hokusai made in the 1830s.
Although little seen from the sea, we see in this print Mount Fuji that stands out from the horizon with its snowy top.
As for the Japanese writings that we can see on the top left of this canvas, they represent the title of the work and the signature of the painter. The left one framed in white can be translated as "Series 36 Views of Mount Fuji - the Sea Route of Kazusa Province". And the one on the right is the signature of Hokusai used after 1822: "Hokusai Itsu".
AtTENTION: The frame is not supplied with the canvas, so we leave 4 to 5 centimetres of margin on each edge so that we can add a reinforcement.
- Material: This reproduction is a high definition waterproof canvas print made of cotton and polyester. This texture and the thickness of this paper are particularly suitable for the reproduction of prints and thus ensure a great fidelity to the original work.
- Artist: This boat print is part of the ukiyo-e, an artistic movement from Edo's time (1603-1868) that could be translated as a "floating world image."
- Style: Japanese landscape
- Colors: The main colour to remember from this print is, as for all works of the "Thirty-six views of Mount Fuji", the blue of Prussia.
- Year of realization (originale): 1832
- Painter (originale): Katsushika Hokusai
